Scout Niblett, eigentlich Emma Louise Niblett, wurde 1973 in Stone, England geboren. Als Kind bekam sie Unterricht am Klavier und der Violine. An der Nottingham Trent University studierte sie music, fine art und performance art. Bei Secretly Canadian Records erschien 2001 ihr Debütalbum "Sweet Heart Fever", auf dem Scout Niblett (Vocals, Guitar, Drums, Double Bass, Percussion) von Kristian Goddard (Drums) musikalisch unterstützt wird. Lo-Fi Indiepop, yeah. Secretly Canadian Records ist nicht in Kanada zuhause und auch nicht in Großbritannien, sondern in Bloomington, Indiana in den USA. Nach diesem Album unterschrieb Scout Niblett bei Too Pure Records, wo die Alben "I Am" 2003, "Kidnapped By Neptune" 2005 und "This Fool Can Die Now" 2007 erschienen. Der Song "I'll Be A Prince (Shhh)" ist auf dem Album "I Am" zu finden, auf dem Scout Niblett von den Musikern Chris Saligoe (Guitar) und Pete Schreiner (Drums) unterstützt wird. Produziert hat das Album Steve Albini. "I'll Be A Prince (Shhh)" erschien auch als Single, mit dem Song "Your Beat Kicks Back Like Death" auf der B-Side. Weiter gings bei Drag City Records, wo noch die Alben "The Calcination Of Scout Niblett" 2010 und "It's Up To Emma" 2013 erschienen. Am 19. Mai 2020 war Scout Niblett im Chelsea in Wien zu Gast. Scott Niblett: Songwriting never feels like it's me doing anything consciously except for becoming aware somehow that it's time to let something out, or let something in, depending on how you look at it. So then I give myself time with a guitar and PA to let my subconscious do its thing. This happens repeatedly over a period of time, and slowly, a set of songs emerge that make some sort of sense to me as a body of work that turns into an album.I've never thought to notate my songs... I tend to just have to remember them. Scout Niblett lebt inzwischen in Portland, Oregon in den USA, weil sie der Meinung ist, das in den USA die Bedingungen für Underground-Musiker*innen besser sind als in Großbritannien. Auf dem Album "It's Up To Emma" spielt Scout Niblett eine Version des Songs "No Scrubs", der 1999 ein Hit für die us-amerikanische Girl-Group TLC war. T steht für Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins, L für Lisa 'Left Eye' Lobes und C für Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas. Okay, hört euch auch den Song "Everythingsnothing" von Lady June an. Lady June war die englische Künstlerin und Dichterin June Campbell Cramer, 1974 hat sie mit Unterstützung von Kevin Ayers das Album "Lady June's Linguistic Leprosy" aufgenommen. Mit dabei waren außerdem noch Kim Solomon, Brian Eno und David Vorhaus. Kevin Ayers hat das Album auch produziert, yeah, es ist ein tolles Album, obwohl es 1974 total unterging und kaum Käufer*innen fand. Ich hab es auch zu spät entdeckt, um den Song an richtiger Stelle in meiner Sweetheartliste aufzunehmen. Leider. Lady June veröffentlichte 1996 bei Gas Records noch ein zweites Album, "Lady June's Hit And Mith", sie starb 1999 im Alter von 68 Jahren auf Mallorca.
